Going To The Caribbean? 10 Places You Have To See

On a trip to the Caribbean the thought of a sub tropical climate white sandy beaches and a great place to relax are the first thoughts that come to the mind. The Caribbean is studded with over 7000 islands islets forests and mountains and deciding which are the top 10 places to see can be quite difficult. Of course looking for beaches to relax on or places for scuba diving and snorkelling is easy as there are plenty of places for this in the Caribbean islands. But to really see Caribbean islands a visit to the sanctuaries plantations and towns is also required for getting a real feeling for the place.

Those who are looking for peace and quiet to unwind and to start their vacation with must first head to Virgin Gorda. It is empty laid back and not easy to get to but once there it is an ideally suited place to relax and unwind. St. John is also a good choice being one of the least populated and least developed of the islands. For an authentic Caribbean experience Nevis with its flat coast line rain forests and Mount Nevis and a rather small population would be the place to visit. Also there are no ugly high rises on this island. Most of the luxurious hotels and villas are situated on Anguilla with its lovely coastline and miles of beaches making it an ideal spot for a relaxing vacation by the sea.

No visit to the Caribbean would be complete without a visit to Bermuda. The place bustles with people and the atmosphere is always festive. If shopping is required then a hop to Harbour Island is in order. There are colourful cottages along the harbour and old palatial residences. This is one of the oldest settlements in the Bahamas and the feel of the past still remains in this town. Looking for adventure would require a trip to Saba where there is a dormant volcano that can be reached by a thin winding road. There is plenty of wild life to be seen in this beautifully preserved island.

The Dominican Republic is a choice of many vacationers that offers two different types of beaches. The Caribbean side boasts white sandy beaches and the gulf side does not. Cayman Islands have a beach called 7 Mile Beach and the beach just continues into the horizon. For duty free shoppers St Thomas offers stores loaded with electronics emeralds diamond and duty free liquor shops. It also has a stunning beach. Luxury hotels and casinos are in Aruba and also some of the friendliest people.

A trip to the Caribbean without visiting the rum capital of the world Jamaica would be considered incomplete. The people are relaxed and friendly and one can ride a bike around Jamaica.

There are so many islands and each boasts their own individuality that one is really hard placed to decide which the best are as each one of them is unique.

Going There – Top 10 Tips When Leaving Your Departure Airport

This article examines the first part of your trip: leaving your departure airport.

1. Make sure that you have enough time at the airport before your plane leaves. Check with your airline how much time in advance you need to be at the airport especially if you travel with certain budget airlines which close their check in extremely early. If you travel in holiday periods it may take a lot longer to check in and pass through security. Also allow time for paying airport taxes and fees for overweight luggage or special luggage e.g. golf clubs surf boards if necessary.

2. If you are traveling from a cold country to a warm and do not have anyone to drive you to the airport it can be really annoying to have to lug around a warm jacket which you do not need in your destination. Instead put on several layers of clothing and remove them when you get to the airport.

3. If you plan on watching the movie and there are no individual monitors ask for a seat a few rows behind the screen to get a good view.

4. If you have a short time to catch your connecting flight ask for an aisle seat near the exit so that you can get off the plane quickly. Murphys law of course dictates that in this case your plane will be parked away from the gates and a bus will take you there and you will be stuck in the back of the bus and be the last one to leave the bus.

5. Go to the restroom before you board the plane delays happen and you do not want to be stuck on the tarmac for two hours with a full bladder yes another lesson learned the hard way.

6. If the plane is overbooked and you are in no hurry you may be able to get money food and accommodations in return for taking a later flight. If your flight gets cancelled call the airline directly to get rebooked to another flight instead of standing in line with all the other passengers at the understaffed desk.

7. If you want to pass check in quickly find out if there are any self service terminals where you step up to a computer and perform the check in yourself. You will then get your boarding pass and luggage tag printed from the machine. Attach the luggage tag to your backpack and drop it off at the bag drop point.

8. Avoid check in lines where there is a new employee trying to learn their job you can usually tell by the fact that there is another person standing next to them and pointing at the computer screen it can take a lot longer.

9. Sometimes there are several queues to check in counters but one queue is significantly longer because it is hard to see the second queue and everyone assumes that there is only one queue. Just join the second queue and save yourself some time.

10. In order to pass passport control quickly pick a line which seems to have people you do not think that the passport control will scrutinize. After a while you learn where you may risk hold ups because the border police want a closer inspection e.g. since they suspect that the person is not a tourist and intends to disappear in the country.

Get The Most From Your Stay At A Luxury Hotel

By knowing more than the average person about Luxury Hotel Hospitality you can experience all the secret benefits that these Hotels have to offer. This can include the cheapest rates free room upgrades free gifts and more!

First off is making your reservation. Your goal is to book the cheapest rate which will take advantage of your Employer’s rates AAA or other membership rates or get discounted Travel Agent Rates.

Contact the Hotel directly and get considered for a free room upgrade before you arrive at the Hotel by having them put your “special occasion” in the comments on your reservation.

CheckIn to the Hotel when the most rooms are available between 1pm and 4pm depending on the Hotel so it will be easier for the Hotel Clerk to get you into an upgraded room. If you check in when there are no rooms available you’re out of luck.

Your body language is critical when approaching the Hotel Clerk do not have that “hurry up and do this NOW” mentality. Treat the employee with respect. Get on the Clerk’s warm side so they WANT to make your stay special. One easy way to do this is to bring the Clerk a small box of chocolates. They will certainly send you a gift in return.

Examples of Hotel gifts are champagne wine chocolate covered strawberries fruit and cheese and more.

If you know how to sweet talk the Clerk they have the ability to give you the best available room in the Hotel for free! The best available rooms are usually given away for free to Elite Rewards members but these people tend to be rude.

The Clerk will feel good about giving the best room away to someone nice that they feel deserves it.

Keep in mind that if the Hotel is full upgrades are not possible!

You are in a Luxury Hotel and everything is expected to be in order. If something goes wrong you can be compensated for your inconvenience with free gifts or Rewards Bonus Points depending on the severity of the issue. Report your issue to the Manager on Duty.

The biggest secret in getting the most from your stay is to make the employees feel special. If you can do this they will treat you like VIP Royalty. You will become THEIR guest not just the Hotel Chain’s guest.

The Hotel Quality is nothing more than the quality of the employees hired to serve YOU. This is what makes happy returning customers.

Freeport Bahamas: Paradise Revisited

Stunning! This is what comes forth from the tourists visiting one of the most picturesque places on planet earth. Home to some of the most beautiful beaches Freeport Bahamas is worth visiting and then cherishing the moments forever. Crystal clear waters palm lined shores and enchanting coral reefs are what defines Bahamas vacation for you. Of particular mention are the Xanadu beach and the Paradise cove because of their isolated landscape. This is the very feature that makes these beaches particularly attractive for the tourists as they are able to savor the moments of solitude with themselves. There are host of other activities which make Bahamas a grand tourist destination to arrive at.

Visiting Freeport Bahamas is simply put out of the world experience. The beaches are desolated due to the excessively hot summer months which makes visiting them more of a problem than any thing else. So it is advised to visit the place in more favorable months when it rains and makes the atmosphere somewhat pleasant. For the adventure seekers there are innumerable activities to do or one can simply lie on the beach watching the sailing boats go by. Besides there are multiple activities in which one can participate like bingo scavenger huts and many more. In Freeport Bahamas one can visit Paradise Cove which is another breathtaking place complete with rocks lining the coastline. What sets it apart form other places in Bahamas is its thick white sand and the coral reefs which are definitely enchanting.

Endless activities await one at Freeport Bahamas including jet skiing parasailing snorkeling scuba diving etc. One can also participate in kayaking biking horseback riding hiking fishing and other interesting activities which keep you enthralled. Avoid the summer months as the temperature can be extremely stifling for travelers and instead opt for the more pleasant month of spring. While in Bahamas you can either snorkel or scuba dive amongst some of the enchanting coral reefs thriving in marine life. Charges are relatively affordable for the tourists visiting the place about which the details can be accessed from hotel you are putting in. For 35 it includes the 20 mile bus trip to the place and back. You will also be provided with snorkeling gear lunch and an access to the beach from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Now comes the accommodation part. Royal Islander Hotel is nice accommodation to begin the tour and a pool bar and a restaurant are its attractive features. The room prices are rather cheap by any means and are only charged 38 a night. Other lovely hotels in Lucaya such as Sheraton at Our Lucaya and Westin at Our Lucaya can also be approached for their class facilities. As far as the pubs are concerned they are few in number and it is better to try some of the good restaurants at Freeport. In Port Lucaya the food is simply superb and the location on the bay rather nice. The atmosphere is quite soothing for the nerves of tired souls and the prices are rather modest by any means. Freeport Bahamas is also famous for Sires bar and restaurant which are excellent in standard and maintenance. Ambience at the bar is cozy and the moods are lifted once the night music session begins. So be prepared to come face to face with pristine nature which is a lifetime experience for most of the tourists.

Five Things You Must Do When Visiting Del Mar California

Del Mar California is a dream town an upscale oceanside community just north of San Diego. Within the Del Mar city limits a quaint historical village serves as a backdrop to a small seaside resort first made famous in the 1930′s when Bing Crosby Jimmy Durante and other race horse lovers from the richandfamous Hollywood set out to build a horse race track at the fairgrounds.

1. The Place To Be Is Epazote

Del Mars historic downtown village dates back to the 1880s and offers over sixty unique shops quaint inns and hotels and twenty five restaurants with enough variety to please even the pickiest of shoppers and eaters. A great place to begin or conclude your shopping and dining tour of Del Mar proper is at the impressive Del Mar Plaza at the corner of Camino del Mar old Highway 101 and 15th Street. The plaza is the home of my favorite Del Mar restaurant Epazote.

Epazote is a wonderful place for lunch or end of the day cocktails because it has an outdoor patio that swells with sunshine sea breezes and enchanting panoramic views of the Pacific Ocean. Its also one of Del Mars favorite nightlife destinations with a contemporary upscale vibe. Sleek and sophisticated its 180degree views of the Pacific a hip bar and a cutting edge ocean view lounge makes it a great day or night experience and you can walk back to your hotel. Oh and did I mention the food all of it is creative unique and wonderful?

2. Take A Hike Through Time

Torrey Pines State Park is a 1700 acre natural habitat to the rare Torrey Pine tree and is one of few locations in the world where the Torrey Pine tree grows. The park offers seven hiking trails with stunning views of wind bent trees abstract sandstone formations wildflowers and the sea below all of which is constantly changing as the sun and cloud formations move to change the lighting. Locals park just outside the park in the free parking lot along the ocean and Highway 101 and walk up the hill to the Nature Center for a great workout and spectacular scenery. You can spend a whole day hiking up the cliffs and down to the ocean through red sandstone canyons carved thousands of years ago. Be sure to bring your camera because all the trails have incredible views of the Pacific Ocean. In spring and early summer the hillsides are cove red with native plants ad spectacular wildflowers.

3. Up Up and Away

Soar through the sky in a hot air balloon as it becomes part of the wind and glides effortlessly above the hills and bed and breakfast inns a calm peaceful and relaxing way to panoramically take in the enormity of the Pacific Ocean and San Diego countryside. Hot air balloon companies offer daily sunrise and sunset tours from a site near the Del Mar fairgrounds and race track. Youll float eastward towards Rancho Santa Fe and the Cuyamaca Mountains and experience rare views of the San Diego coastline from San Clemente all the way to Mexico.

Many describe flying in a hot air balloon as one of the most serene enjoyable activities theyve every experienced. Sunny skies and a heavenly sunset allow you to experience what its like to float among the clouds. If youre staying at a hotel in Del Mar you can experience the views and flights of a lifetime with Panorama Balloon Tours Skysurfrer Balloon Tours Magical Adventures or Skys The Limit Balloon Adventures. Simply Google them for information.

4. Get The Tan Of A Lifetime

With 2.5 miles of sandy beaches and excellent conditions for swimming body surfing board surfing boogie boarding or just lounging in the sun Del Mar is a vacationers delight. A nearby bed and breakfast in Encinitas is just a block from Moonlight Beach appropriately named the Inn at Moonlight Beach. On some beaches residents are allowed to bring their dogs for great games of dog/human Frisbee. No matter what beach youre on youll see hundreds of people spending the whole day under the sun with friends and family. The best and most popular beach is at the end of 15th Street crowded year around with families couples friends and surfers. Del Mar beaches are so popular because the waves are usually gentle and its a great place to learn to surf. A good selection of Del Mar hotels are nearby.

5. Pedal Around Town

Bike riding is one of the simplest ways to have fun enjoy the wonderful Del Mar scenery and stay fit and inshape especially if youre staying at a Del Mar Bamp;B or other vacation or resort lodging. With our nearperfect weather all year enjoying the great outdoors is a way of life for most Del Martians. Ride up and down the quiet residential streets along the ocean. Del Mar is full of paths and trails that give cyclists an opportunity to relax exercise and explore. Any way you cut it Del Mar is a great place to have fun get fit and relax!

About the writer:nbsp;nbsp; In 2007 Terry Hunefeld retired from his job as a CEO to follow his bliss of pelagic birding observing seabirds at sea.
The ancient city of Farmagusta provides some of the finest maintained and restored architecture from medieval times to be found in the entire eastern Mediterranean region. The citys remarkable reminders of ancient days are exhilarating and remind many travelers of some of the worlds best maintained medieval cities.

Although the early history of the town remains shrouded in mystery many historians believe the first settlements occurred here around the 3rd century B.C. Later during the time of the Crusades the town became a principal market of commerce located along the popular trade routes through the Eastern Mediterranean region.

North Cyprus Car Hire Things to See in Famagusta

Much like the walled city of Carcassone France the ancient city of Farmagusta remains encircled by the defensive walls that were originally built in the 12th century by the Lusignan family of western France. Later while the city was under the control of the Venetian forces the walls were improved and strengthened. These walls are huge averaging 60 feet high and 30 feet thick or 18 meters high and 9 meters thick. One particularly interesting section of the wall is the original 15th century iron covered gate to the city Porta del Mare or Sea Gate that still maintains its original appearance. The Venetian control over and improvements to the town are evidenced in the statue of the winged lion of Venice that can be seen at the Porta del Mare as well as prominently elsewhere throughout the old town.

The largest medieval building in the city is the impressive Lala Mustafa Pasha Mosque building that dates from the 14th century. This building was the Cathedral of St. Nicholas until the Ottomans conquered the island in the 16th century and converted the cathedral to a mosque. Many visitors have noted that the style of the building is reminiscent of the great medieval cathedrals of France. This is not an unexpected comparison since French families ruled the island of Cyprus from the 12th to the 15th century and it was here in the cathedral that various French family members were crowned as King of Cyprus. This French influence is also obvious in the great rose window that is located above the buildings main entry doors.

Today located just south of the old town the forbidden city of Varosha can only be seen through the wire fence that surrounds it. Prior to the invasion of Cyprus by Turkish forces in 1974 this modern Varosha neighborhood of Farmagusta was the number one tourist area in Cyprus. Many high rise hotels had been built here to accommodate the large number of international travelers that visited the city in the early 1970s. But when the Turkish army seized control of the city in 1974 they fenced the area off and no one was admitted. Even today only members of the Turkish military and United Nations personnel are allowed to enter the abandoned city. After 34 years of abandonment the oncemodern buildings are nowfalling apart and many stores and restaurants look as if they were just abandoned with tables still set for diners and clothing still on the shelves.

North Cyprus Car Hire Things to See near Famagusta

One advantage of having a North Cyprus car hire is that it gives you the ability to visit more remote sites that are located near larger towns like Farmagusta. For example the excavated ruins of ancient Salamis are located just a short drive up the coast and include a Greek theater that seated as many as 20000 people as well as many Roman structures and classical monuments. Another outstanding site in Salamis is the 4th century Kampanopetra Basilica located at a spot near the harbor and overlooking the sea. The Basilicas elaborate floor pattern consisting of 2400 individual diamond shaped stones is exquisite. This important city of ancient Cyprus may have originally been settled by Greek colonists following the end of the Trojan War. Later it was visited by Saint Paul during his first journey as a missionary.

With your North Cyprus car hire you can also visit the nearby ruins of Engomi a powerful city that existed during the Bronze Age around the year 2000 B.C. Treasures that have been recovered from the tombs found here have included gold and ivory as well as glass vases and rare pottery. The settlement of Engomi is believed to have been abandoned around 1000 B.C. when an earthquake destroyed many of the buildings and the residents moved to the nearby town of Salamis.
Whether walking through the city of Farmagusta on foot or driving through the surrounding area in your North Cyprus hire car the time spent in this fascinating town of ancient Cyprus may be the highlight of your trip to North Cyprus.

Local Snowmobile tours travel as high as 12500 feet atop of the Continental Divide offering guests a new perspective or dimension of the spectacular mountain scenery that surrounds them. For a beginner or novice snowmobiler a beginner course or thorough course is necessary. The snowmobiler should research in advance what requirements may exist to legally operate an offhighway recreational vehicle.

After the practice session is over the guides pair the members into groups according to the pace of ride that the members are seeking. The tour then begins to climb and weave through the wooded terrain on the trail system that meets the wide open terrain of the Continental Divide.

Exclusive Travel Agency Vacations

With the flurry of online travel booking and DoItYourself travel sites many people have lost sight of the fact that a trip can easily be booked through a travel agency and that there are benefits which can only be found through one of these agencies. It is important to think about the various deals that you can find only through a travel agency before you begin to plan your trip. Before you start to try to do it yourself and before you spend too much money with online travel sites or DoItYourself travel sites think about using a travel agent.

The Best Deals

Many people believe that the best deals can be found by doing the booking and the arranging of their trip on their own. However they are forgetting that this technique can lead additional fees and taxes which travel agents will not add. They also forget that travel agents are real people which means that you can talk to him or her about your exact needs for the trip including any special needs you have and they can make sure that you are taken care of. Even if a particular company advertises the best deals when it comes right down to it the best deals are only found through travel agencies.

Package Deals

Even though many travel companies claim that they can get you package deals such as airfare hotel and car rental in reality most of these companies are just finding deals on these three things and then sticking them together in a package that looks appealing but may not be a deal at all. On the other hand travel agencies really do have contracts or agreements in place where they work with corporations that are mutually beneficial. They can actually get you a better deal on car rentals if you stay in a certain hotel or get a better deal on airfare if you are renting a car from the right company. These are not just individual purchases stuck together like on the travel sites. They are actual connections which are made with the travel agency through various companies for flights car rentals and hotels. Therefore when you do book a package deal with a travel agency you are getting a better deal than you would get doing it yourself.

Tour Deals

Another thing that DoItYourself travel does not afford you is the benefit of getting a tour deal that a travel agency could give you. If you want to travel abroad for example where your vacation may cross borders into several different countries you might have considered planning your own tour. However if you do this you have to worry about each individual thing travel from one place to another lodging and sightseeing in each area. If you do not want to worry about all of these details you probably want to look for a good tour deal. The only place to get a good tour deal is through a travel agency. Through a travel agency you will be able to book all of the components of your vacation. You can tell them where you would like to go and then the travel agency can take care of all of your arrangements. They will book your flights your travel between each place you are going and all of the things that you will do when you are in each town or country. They will also reserve your hotels all of the other types of accommodations you are going to need and take care of any other things that come up.

Group Tours

It can be really hard to book your own travels online or through each individual company by yourself. However it is harder if you are trying to book flights accommodations and sight seeing packages for lots of people. Travel agencies are still the only places that can help you book group tour deals. The agencies have contracts with bus companies hotels restaurants and airlines so that they can truly get you better deals when it comes to travel for a lot of different people. You can talk to a travel agent about your specific needs when it comes to group travel and they will take care of the entire booking process for you. This means that you can book a tour for your family your company or your fundraiser quite easily through a travel agency.

It does not matter which type of trip you are booking or where you would like to go. A travel agency can make sure that you get there quickly and easily as well as affordably!
